Description

Open House proposes the renovation of abandoned buildings in Berlin-Weißensee, transforming them into shared learning and co-working spaces for students — flexible places to study, work together, and connect with the local community.

Instead of focusing only on traditional classroom education, the project supports collaboration, social exchange and soft skills, turning unused buildings into open, inclusive spaces for learning, personal growth and community life.

A Network of Local Study Hubs

Because the buildings are reused and spread across the city, Open House can function as a network of local study hubs embedded in different neighbourhoods.

This reduces loneliness, supports soft skills such as communication and teamwork, and strengthens the relationship between students and the surrounding community.

Open House was exhibited at the AEDES Metropolitan Laboratory together with five other proposals on the theme 'The Future of Education.' The project was awarded for the best graphical representation.
